Success with Chinese: A Communicative Approach for Beginners is an innovative two-level beginning Chinese series that gives learners a solid foundation in the Chinese language by using shopping, traveling, and other experiences as practical opportunities for learning the basics. In addition to building practical conversation skills swiftly, Success with Chinese presents Listening & Speaking and Reading & Writing lessons in separate volumes. This separation gives teachers and learners the flexibility to pursue conversation training at a faster pace than character acquisition. The Listening & Speaking volumes take learners straight to the streets, shops, and restaurants of China and coaches them through their first real-life conversations in Chinese. Both levels of Success with Chinese include two audio CDs with hours of listening comprehension practice based on the dialogs in the books. Level 2 builds on the strengths of the first, using a whole new range of daily life activities in China to build students' confidence with and mastery of the language.
